Study the Transport Properties of Anion and Cation Exchange Membranes toward Various Ions Using Chronopotentiometry

The transport properties of various anion and cation exchange membranes were studied in different electrolyte solutions using chronopotentiometry technique to get insight about the influence of the counter ion on the transport properties of the membranes. The investigated samples include heterogeneous ion exchange membranes varying in the functionality of fixed charged gro...

Coupling Geomechanics and Transport in Naturally Fractured Reservoirs

Large amounts of hydrocarbon reserves are trapped in naturally fractured reservoirs which arechallenging in terms of accurate recovery prediction because of their joint fabric complexity andlithological heterogeneity. Canada, for example, has over 400 billion barrels of crude oil in fracturedcarbonates in Alberta, most of this being bitumen of viscosity greater than 106 cP in the GrosmontFormat...

Efficacy of Plant Origin Molluscicides: Control of Fascioliasis

Background: In the past, fascioliasis infection was limited to specific and typical geographical areas but is now widespread throughout the world. Human cases are increasingly reported from Europe the Americas and Oceania (where only F. hepatica is transmitted) and from Africa and Asia (where the two species overlap). Sheep and cattle are the most important definitive host. Several chemical mol...

Copper mediated decarboxylative direct C-H arylation of heteroarenes with benzoic acids.

Decarboxylative coupling reactions to date require a stoichiometric oxidant (such as copper and silver salts) for decarboxylation purposes along with a metal catalyst (e.g. palladium) for cross-coupling. In this communication, an economic and sustainable approach by using a simple copper salt was developed in the presence of molecular oxygen as the sole oxidant. A wide range of 5-membered heter...

Effect of bile salts on the DNA and membrane integrity of enteric bacteria.

Enteric bacteria are able to resist the high concentrations of bile encountered throughout the gastrointestinal tract. Here we review the current mechanisms identified in the enteric bacteria Salmonella, Escherichia coli, Bacillus cereus and Listeria monocytogenes to resist the dangerous effects of bile. We describe the role of membrane transport systems, and their connection with DNA repair pa...
